Thank you for your interest in the Virtual 17 Rooms-U global discussion of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), hosted by the SUNY COIL Center. This event takes place 18-22 November 2019 on two online platforms: Twitter and Padlet. There is one Twitter hashtag and one Padlet board for each SDG. Every day we will post a question for you to respond to, allowing you to share your thoughts and discuss with people around the world.
How does this work?
You decide which of the SDGs you want to discuss. You can focus on one or participate in discussions on all of them.
We are offering two platforms for the discussions. Slow Twitter chats will unfold over the course of each day, allowing you to participate when you like, but also allowing for immediate responses and synchronous discussions. Padlet is an online collaboration tool in the form of a board, where you can post reflections, questions, videos and photos, and respond to other posts with threaded comments.
Each day, beginning on 18 November, we will post a question for you to respond to. Questions will focus on defining the issues related to each goal as they are experienced by people and communities around the world. As the week progresses, discussions will move towards actions that can be taken to address the SDGs.
To participate in the discussions on Twitter, login to or create a Twitter account and follow the designated hashtag for the SDG you want to discuss. To participate on Padlet, you can login or create a Padlet account, or you can participate as a guest. Click the Padlet link for the SDG you’d like to discuss. The Twitter hashtags and the links to Padlet are listed under each SDG on the Join the discussions page. You may post and respond in any language.
